Pat Van Bakel

President, Loss Adjusting, North America
Crawford & Company

Pat is president of Crawford Loss Adjusting, North America, responsible for the company’s loss adjusting business segment in both Canada and the United States. Pat served as president of Crawford Canada from 2013 to 2021 and is currently Chairman of the Board. Pat is a seasoned insurance professional with an impressive career with 30+ years in the industry.

Pat joined Crawford in 1992 and has served in several leadership positions within the organization. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board for Origin and Cause, Canada’s largest Forensic Engineering and Fire Investigation Consulting Firm specializing in cross-disciplinary forensic expertise. He is a frequent public speaker and active in a number of industry associations, including having served as Chair of the Board of Governors of the Insurance Institute of Canada.

Tom Reikman

Senior vice-president and chief distribution officer

As senior vice-president and chief distribution officer for Economical Insurance, Tom oversees national broker distribution, national marketing and corporate communications and public relations for the group of companies servicing the broker channel under the Definity banner, including retail, group, special risk, farm and pet insurance business under the Economical, Family and Petline brands. He is also the Chairman of the Board for Family Insurance Solutions in British Columbia. Tom has more than 30 years of senior leadership experience in the property and casualty industry — including commercial underwriting, personal and group underwriting, marketing, and broker management with companies such as Aviva, Pilot, Axa, and Wellington. Tom worked previously for Economical in senior roles between 1995 and 2006.

Tom has a MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University, as well as a Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Western Ontario. Tom also holds his Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.


Kelly Albert

Crawford and Company (Canada) Inc.

Kelly Albert joined Crawford and Company (Canada) Inc. in 2014, in his role as National Account Executive he is responsible for developing client strategies with respect to risk management and claims adjustment. Kelly’s previous 23 years in the insurance industry includes appraisal, claims adjusting, claims management, catastrophe management, broker, high performance team building and coaching. Kelly received Crawford’s National Award for Entrepreneurial Spirit. In 2021 Kelly received the Crawford Customer Hero Award, in conjunction with the Crawford Founders Day, celebrating 80 years in business.

Barry Haggis

Young & Haggis

Barry is a third generation insurance broker who has been in the insurance industry since 2011, and is the President of Young & Haggis Insurance. Barry is also the incoming President of the IBAA and previously served as President of the PYIB. Barry was named as one of the top 35 Canadian insurance industry’s most promising young stars in 2019 from Insurance Business Canada.

Barry is very excited to work with the Leaders in Insurance Charity Classic to support such great causes.

Sherif Gemayel

Trufla Technology

Sherif Gemayel is an entrepreneur who is passionate about disrupting the traditional ways of doing insurance. As the former president of Sharp Insurance and the current CEO of Trufla Technology, Sherif uses tech trends from other industries to navigate through the relatively unchartered territory of digital in the insurance brokerage sphere.

Diane Jones

Trufla Technology

Diane was with Silvercrest Insurance Group for 18 years and was Managing Partner when the firm was acquired by another brokerage. She was also the founder and Chair of the Silvercrest Charity Golf Tournament for 10 years. Diane has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and a Minor of Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development.

Kevin Lea

Fuse Insurance

Kevin Lea is the President and Co-founder of Fuse Insurance, the 2019 Insurance Business Canada Small Brokerage of the Year. Fuse Insurance has also been recognized for its use of technology as a finalist in the 2021 Insurance-Canada Technology Awards, a 2021 finalist for IBCA’s Digital Innovator of the Year Award and as one of Startup Calgary’s Top 15 Tech Start-ups in 2020.

Kevin is a current board member of the Insurance Brokers Association of Alberta and the chair of IBAC’s national Young Broker Advisory Council. He also served as the President of the Professional Young Insurance Brokers of Alberta for the 2019-2020 term.

Jason Moore

Gallagher Energy Risk Services

Jason began his career in 2007 at The Co-operators as a field adjuster, specializing in bodily injury litigation claims.  In 2013, Jason worked in a brokerage as a Claims Advocate with Marsh where he managed the claims process and assisted in settlement negotiations for a variety of clients including many large energy clients.  In 2017, Jason transitioned into a producer role where he was responsible for the negotiation and placement of insurance programs for a variety of clients.

Jason moved to Gallagher Energy in January 2020 to specialize in the energy market and works primarily as an Account Manager assisting Director’s in the placement and negotiation of insurance programs.  Jason holds a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Calgary as well as his Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) and Certified Risk Management (CRM) designations.

Bruce Rabik

Rogers Insurance

Bruce Rabik has been the COO of Rogers Insurance and the group of companies for 17 years. Prior to that he worked as an underwriter, a business consultant to brokerages across Canada as an independent and as part of Trivest- the first broker consolidator in Canada. He holds a graduate degree in HR Management and undergraduate degrees in Economics and business.

Bruce has been involved in numerous brokerage mergers and acquisitions across Canada. He is proud of the fact that the Rogers team has been awarded more top employer awards than any other company in the insurance industry in Canada.
